WE MOVE OFF-CENTRE, IN THE PERIPHERIES
We are a non-institutional fringe theatre. We make space for herstories and topics that are outside the mainstream. We are interested in that, which is off-centre, on the periphery, in between. We create a personal map of voices, islands, movements. We are process-oriented. We create open, capacious structures because we see these as potential for change.
WE EXPLORE THE CONCEPT OF NOMADIC THEATRE
We understand identity as a fluid and performative phenomenon.
We are interested in the experience of displacement and transfer, the overlap of cultures, and the creation of narratives that circulate around one’s identity – its construction, deconstruction, loss, and retrieval. We experience ourselves as subjects that are always not/complete. We see bodies as archives – we carry these archives within us, and they carry us. We continually migrate from the theatre and return to it.
WE USE TOOLS AND METHODS FROM THE FIELD OF PHYSICAL THEATRE AND NEW CHOREOGRAPHY
For us, the body is material for performance and performance itself, a carrier of meaning, a point of contact between the human and the non-human, and a site of encounter. We treat performance as living matter, which we shape collectively, working with different tropes, and polyphonic herstories. Our artistic research is process-oriented, and the search for structures happens through collaborative practice and improvisation. Most often we start with a meeting, an encounter, and see what emerges from it. We use methods, techniques, and tools developed by avant-garde artists.
WE PRACTICE (WITH) COMMUNITIES
We work in the field of cultural/artistic animation and education. We regularly conduct open workshops for diverse groups with a focus on their needs.
